How Can severe Back Pain Be Treated?

I have had 5 back surgeries and my back is fused all the way down. I am still having back pain and now seem to have SI Joint pain also. I had a neurostimulator implanted in June of 2016 but have not experienced any pain relief. In fact, it seems the neurostimulator may be irritating my back and causing additional pain. I m considering having the device removed. Do you think this may help my pain problem?

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

I hope you feel better soon , in my opinion i think you need to remove it if you felt no progress in your pain sensation .
You have mentioned that the neurostimulator have caused additional pain and you have had 5 previous back surgeries so may be it need to be reassured if not working properly and if it really cause extra pain so i think you may need more than one neurosurgeon point of view and remove it .
Physiotherapy , hot massages , yoga , spinal straightening exercises and the avoidance of heavy lifting , over weighing , vigorous movements , bad sleeping and sitting postures and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and meals are of best results of low back pain patients .
You may use painkillers like advil tabs when needed , gentle massages with topical gels of anti-inflammatory , B12 vitamin supplements , muscle relaxants will be effective for most of cases , steroid tabs or injections are prescribed in more severe cases .
If your pain persists i recommend a new MRI and CT and follow them up with your neurologist for proper evaluation and management .
